AI Music
Here to stay?
For as long as I remember, I have always loved music. Going back to the 70’s and playing my Dad’s Elvis records and tapes, remember them? My music tastes are literally across the board and will listen to many different genres. My voices and characters, I would listen to classical music or typically Hans Zimmer. I suspect it’s something I picked up from movies and the scores within them Music plays such an important role in a movie.
So, when AI music came out, I was a little sceptical. But then I quickly realised something, having not been able to play my guitar. I realised I could play around with writing and add the music. It felt a bit like I was cheating at first, but then I asked myself. Was this any different to loops I have used with my voice over work? Or go back years and the many samples’ artists would use on tracks. It was as if AI music was simply allowing another way, to create music with the notes available.
Having written many sketches for my old stand-up stuff. I always had ideas for songs as well, albeit mostly parodies. That is what I wanted the guitar for originally, but I have fat fingers and really struggled. So, ideas that I now have, which are often when cooking, cleaning or in the garden. I now play around with these ideas and add music to them.
Driving in the Summertime
Driving in the Summertime was something I came up with many years ago when camping. It was my first trip meeting friends, and our children had grown up. Being single, I was driving on my own to the campsite and where I got the idea. I went for a 50’s rock and roll feel with this one, as I always loved that era.
Oh Its Too Hot
Oh, it’s too hot was just a bit of fun really. It was back when we had a couple of hot days, after being wet for a while early summer. Although to be honest, it has felt like a typical summer for us this year, one I remember anyway. Have we been spoilt with hot weather in recent years perhaps?
For me AI music is here to stay, a way for creatives to mess around with their ideas. I am currently finishing a song dedicated to my donor, which hopefully will be on streaming platform for organ donation week. The picture is a fun take on the HMV Jack Russell, thinking of my own dog George.
